The TonewedgeTM is a 1x12 cabinet in "monitor" or "wedge" form. There is one major difference. The cabinet is tuned specifically for guitar amplification. The TonewedgeTM houses a single Celestion vintage 30 and is ported for extended bass response equal to that of a 4x12. A major name 4x12 was used in the tuning comparisons of this cabinet.
The wedge shape places the speaker cone directly facing the player. This design enables the player to hear the exact sound of their amp. A baffle is used to eliminate that "ice pick" high end without compromise to the overall tone. There is no longer the need to crank the amp to hear yourself.
The biggest problem I find with a 4x12 cabinet is, that in most cases the speakers are aimed at the back of your legs. You must turn the amp up in order to hear it. This creates a louder than needed stage volume for others, and blasts the audience with uncontrollable sound. With a TonewedgeTM you are able to get as loud as you can stand and not really affect anyone else. That is because it is aimed directly at you.
Now, this is where the sound man comes in. With a TonewedgeTM and a good quality microphone the soundman has total control over the guitar volume through the front of the house mix. Should you not be so lucky as to have a soundman (or at least a good One) a Rocket LauncherTM pedal is a good way to boost your leads. Just click to check it out!
